BEP or PEP?

Related plans. Different jobs.

BIM Execution Plan

Controls how project information is planned, produced, coordinated, checked, exchanged and handed over. It should respond to project information requirements and appointments.

  • Information requirements and BIM uses
  • Roles, CDE and delivery plans
  • Model, coordinate and exchange rules
  • Coordination, QA and handover

Project Execution Plan

Controls the broader project delivery system. It connects objectives, authority, scope, programme, commercial decisions, risk, quality, HSE and closeout.

  • Governance and decision rights
  • Scope, milestones and procurement
  • Cost, change, risk and reporting
  • Quality, safety and closeout

Use both when appropriate: the PEP can reference the controlled BEP for BIM-specific rules instead of duplicating them. Project appointments and contractual precedence still govern.

Learn before editing

Three plain-language foundations.

Scope boundary

Practical starting points, not standards text.

These templates do not reproduce ISO standards and do not certify compliance. Adapt terminology, identifiers, status/suitability codes, information requirements and approvals to the current standard, national guidance, local law and project appointments.

The pre-filled organizations, people, dates and identifiers are fictional.

Make it project-specific

Turn the starting document into a controlled working plan.

If the appointment, information requirements, delivery stage, disciplines, CDE, software and exchange milestones are known, We can review the structure and help adapt it to the actual delivery team.
